Since 2003, Farragut Christian Church has organized the PROM OF THE STARS. This is a free Prom for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities, ages 15 and older, which is completely supported by the community. The prom is held annually in March. Over 1000 participants and caregivers attended in 2008, and we anticipate another year of growth as word of this special event continues to spread.

There are 59.5 million special needs individuals in the United States, about 20% of the population. In Knox County, approximately 71,000 people have physical or cognitive disabilities. Like most people, they desire the same opportunities as others in our community have, with chances to participate in a variety of activities.
