This year leadership has challenged the church to deepen their faith by asking them to participate in different spiritual disciplines.  Our hope has been that as we do these together we can grow closer to each other and to God.  We have just finished up a series on prayer, and now we want to move on to a series on the Bible.  We are going to spend 5 weeks in Psalm 119, looking at the major themes that the Psalmist lays out for us.  One thing you learn quickly in reading this Psalm is how much the Psalmist loved the Scripture.  I want us to get that same love.  So the challenge is that you read Psalm 119 over the month.  Below you will see the reading schedule that we have laid out.  Now we also want to challenge you to memorize parts of the texts.  Maybe you think this isn't your thing.  In the words of Sean Connery in Indiana Jones, "I wrote it down so I wouldn't have to remember it Junior."  In the best British accent you think, why would I memorize the Scripture, it is already written down for me to read.  Yet I believe, it is through memorization that you learn to love the text.  So we hope that this challenge will help you to learn to delight in the Word.  In the foyer you will find different reading plans to continue your reading.  We have placed 30 day reading plans, year long reading plans, and two year reading plans for you to take.  Also you will find articles to help you learn to memorize the text and a great plan to help your kids begin to memorize.  I want you to imagine what would happen if we had 50 to 100 people who accepted the challenge to read the Word daily and begin to memorize it.  Will you accept the challenge?
